Abstract

In this paper, we propose a design method to improve the bandwidth characteristics of a new microstrip antenna using coplanar waveguide feed. This method adds a three section feed structure (TSFS) on the basis of the conventional coplanar waveguide feed and the addition of chamfers to the rectangular radiating patch to improve the detection performance of the antenna. The antenna can operate in the frequency band from 500MHz to 1120MHz, with a peak gain of 4.6dB and an average gain of 3.4dB in this band, with high gain. The directional diagram shows that the antenna has good omnidirectional radiation characteristics and can pick up electromagnetic signals coming from different directions in space. According to the optimization results, the antenna is fabricated, and the input S11 and standing wave ratio (SWR) of the antenna are measured using a vector network analyzer, and the measured results are consistent with the simulation results, which verifies the performance of the antenna.
