Abstract
A microforming apparatus was designed to establish the microforming processes. To get high displacement precision and large punch travel, a macro/micro feeding system was developed. The parameters were measured during the microforming processes. With the apparatus, the microforming processes of microgears were investigated. The forming process can be divided into three parts: upsetting deformation, flowing the die cavity and filling the whole female die. With the increasing of forming temperature and load, the quality of the microgears increases. The contour of microgear is very clear, and the surface quality is perfect well. This proves that microgears can be produced using micro-forming processes.
