Abstract

Friction pendulum bearings (FPB) with initial angle were applied to the single-layer reticulated domes and the mechanical properties of reticulated domes with FPBs including initial angle were systematically studied by the finite element analysis (FEA). The influence of initial angles of FPB on seismic performance of reticulated domes was analyzed under the horizontal, vertical and 3D earthquakes of El Centro and Taft wave. The results show that the internal force and deformation are gradually weakened and the horizontal force provided by the FPB increases with the increase of initial angle under static load. When the initial angle of FPB is less than 15, vibration reduction effect of reticulated domes is similar under the horizontal and 3D earthquakes, and the effect is gradually strengthened with the increase of initial angle under the vertical earthquakes. So it is suggested that the initial angle of FPB is less than 15.
