Abstract

A novel linear ultrasonic motor based on the rectangular piezoelectric resonator with longitudinal and bending mode is presented in the paper. The solid model of the piezoelectric resonator is developed and the modal, harmonic responses and transient analysis for the piezoelectric resonator are inspected. Based on the analysis of the first order longitudinal mode and second-order bending mode of the piezoelectric resonator, we find that the value difference between the B2-mode frequency and the L1-mode frequency become smaller and the amplitudes of the piezoelectric resonator become bigger when there are holes in the elastic part. As the result, frequencies of the B2 and L1 vibration mode of the piezoelectric resonator can be optimized by changing the number and size of holes.
