Abstract

The method to build a large ship propulsion shafting multi-nonlinear-elastic support alignment model, which is based on Timoshenko beam model and finite element method, is proposed in this paper. In this model, a water-lubricated bearing is divided into multiple segments. The bearing positions and the nonlinear stiffness of bearing inners are also included. Finally, an actual shafting was respectively calculated by multi-nonlinear-elastic support model, multi-rigid-support model, and single-nonlinear-elastic support model. According to the comparisons, the multi-nonlinear-elastic support model is better than the other two models.
