Abstract

The arranging density of the feeding antenna is the main factor which decides the spatial sampling rate of the millimeter-wave focal plane arrays (FPA) imaging system. This paper proposes a new kind of dielectric rod antenna with new structure. Comparing with the other feeding antennas, it has broader wave band, lower side lobe, lower mutual coupling, lower cross polarization, and the gain can be changed by changing its length but not the section area. It is easier to form a close feed array which can realize an effective exposure to the lens or the reflector antenna with less overflow loss. A detailed theoretical analysis, simulation and optimization of the design are done to develop the dielectric rod antenna and its array. This kind of antenna is used in the millimeter-wave focal plane arrays imaging system which can detect the concealed object on the human perfectly.
