abstract = "Variable-flux machine has good application prospect at wide-speed-range field. This paper investigates the electromagnetic performance of a novel hybrid-permanent-magnet (PM) variable-flux machine. The effects of PM thickness, PM ratio and flux barrier on back electromotive force (EMF), electromagnetic torque and magnetization-adjustment ability of the machine are analyzed. The machine is proved with good speed-regulation capability by investigating the efficiency map at different magnetization states.",
