Abstract
Axial compressive experiments for concrete specimens at different strain rates (10 -5-10 -3 s -1) were carried out for comparative study on the dynamic strength and deformation characteristics of concrete. The compressive strength, peak strain, elastic modulus and energy absorption capacity at different strain rates were discussed in detail. The experimental results show that, with increasing strain rate, the compressive strength, peak strain and energy absorption capacity were increased while elastic modulus had no obvious change. Further, the rate sensitivity of compressive strength of sulfate attack concrete was more sensitive than control concrete. In addition, the failure phenomenon of specimens was shown and discussed.
