Abstract

A novel design of micro-controller-based dimmable electronic ballast for HPS lamps Is presented In this paper. An easier and low-cost power control method Is proposed In this paper. The lamp voltage and current are sensed through a multiplier, dimming control Is realized by changing the frequency of the inverter. Driver signal with low frequency modulation generated from MCU Is used to eliminate unstable arc during dimming state. Theoretical analysis and experimental results for the commercial HPS lamp Philips NAV250 show the feasibility of the proposed ballast.
