Abstract

This paper investigates a diagnostic method and a fault-tolerant control strategy (FTCS) for the short-circuit fault (SCF) of IGBTs in the dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (DTP-PMSM) drive system. At first, the method based on bus current detection is used to determine whether a SCF occurs. Next, a positioning procedure based on logical analysis and local circuit currents is further proposed to determine the precise position of the faulty IGBT. Then, with the aim of reducing torque ripple, an improved FTCS is proposed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed diagnostic method and FTCS is verified through simulation experiments.
