Abstract
Based on distributed parameters line model, this paper presents a new fault location method for two and three terminal parallel transmission lines. The method only uses the difference of current sequence components. By the method, short circuit fault on one line or unsymmetrical cross-line fault can be precisely located, and the influences of system impedance variation, transient resistance and non-synchronous sampling are excluded. The satisfactory simulation result shows that the method is effective.
