Abstract
Based on FBG sensing technique and strain load-sensor principle, a novel high durable load cell has been developed, which is characterized by FRP package for FBG and metal welding technique. The corresponding temperature compensation is also given. Calibration experiments show the features of the new load cell such as 0.99% of linearity, 2.02 × 106 kN of sensitivity, 1.11% of repeatability error and 0.65% of hysteresis coefficient. The FBG-based load cell possesses excellent performance to meet the needs of application in civil engineering.
