Abstract

To research mechanical properties for PVA fiber reinforced concrete, distinction of mechanical properties between fiber reinforced concrete and ordinary concrete was obtained by means of analyzing fiber reinforced concrete of different fiber length, fiber volume content and different kinds of blocks. The experimental results indicate that the concrete mixed with PVA fiber can improve the failure mode and strength compared with ordinary concrete. Observing from failure form, ordinary concrete's failure form belongs to brittle failure, while that of fiber reinforced concrete belongs to ductile failure. In terms of failure strength, compression strength of concrete has little difference with that of ordinary concrete at the age of 7 days, and the strength slightly increases when the age is 14 and 28 days. Tensile splitting strength and flexural strength of fiber reinforced concrete increase obviously.
