Abstract

The relativistic calculations of the krypton-xenon spectrum in the 68,000 cm-1 region were analyzed to obtain a microscopic understanding of the origin of vuv emission from inert heavy-atom gas mixtures. The calculations were carried out in the ground and in the low-lying spin-orbit excited states of the krypton-xenon dimers. Large-core quasirelastivistic effective core potentials with highly augmented valence basis sets and midbond functions were used for the analysis.
