Abstract

An active metasurface for dynamic manipulation of electromagnetic waves is proposed in this paper. This metasurface has a high near-field focusing efficiency (64.7%) and each single meta-atom can be independently tuned by varying the capacitance of the varactor diodes. Two different simulated verifications are performed to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed active metasurface. The proposed mechanism provides a theoretical basis for building an active metasurface system that can dynamically manipulate electromagnetic waves.
