Refined optimal design of sandwich structures with modified pyramidal lattice cores

Abstract

In this paper, in order to enhance the equivalent shear strength of the pyramidal lattice truss cores sandwich structures, one refined optimal design concept, which is based on the performance harmony between the cores and interface, is brought forward to design the sandwich structures with modified pyramidal lattice truss cores. Analytical results based on the refined optimal design concept show that the equivalent shear strength of the modified pyramidal lattice cores sandwich structures may be evidently increased owing to optimum structure of the pyramidal lattice cores.
