Abstract

A compact reconfigurable multiband antenna is presented for mobile terminals. The proposed design is a novel planar inverted-E antenna (PIEA) with a PIN diode switch to realize the reconfigurability. The antenna is low profile and designed in a volume of 3.5×10×0.2cm3, it can be used to serve the following wireless communication systems: GSM, DCS, PCS, UMTS, TD-LTE, ISM, WiMAX, CMMB, IMT-ADVANCED, WLAN.
