Abstract

The method of real-time substructure testing with MTS-SGHENCK system is described. The testing system includes FlexTest GT controller of MTS corporation and SCHENCK servohydraulic actuator. A real-time substructure testing was conducted with the testing system. The tested structure was a single story frame structure incorporated with a vicious damper, of which the bare frame was the numerical substructure, and the damper was the physical substructure. The cubic extrapolation method was adopted to compensate the time delay of testing system. The test results matched very well with the calculated ones. The results show that the MTS-SCHENCK testing system satisfies the demands of real-time substructure testing, and real-time substructure testing can very well reflect the performance of structure with velocity dependent components.
