Abstract

An auto target recognition (ATR) image compression algorithm based on lifting morphological Haar wavelet termed targets morphological wavelet image coding (TMWC) was presented, which was used to solve the problem that the huge data flow provided by high-speed image acquisition could not be easily transferred and stored. Morphology Haar wavelet and mathematic morphology were used in this new image compression algorithm. At first, an acquisition image was decomposed with 2-D lifting morphology Haar wavelet, then combined with region of interested (ROI) detection operator on the field of scale signal decomposed by lifting morphology Haar wavelet to find ROI of the targets. Based on the detection result, the low-frequency morphological wavelet coefficients were partitioned into three coding map, at last, chosed the adaptive arithmetic coding to code different coding map. The simulation results show that this algorithm is simple and effective, and it can save the information of the targets effectively.
