Abstract

The course "Fundamentals of Mechanical Manufacturing Technology"plays an important role in the education of undergraduates majoring in machinery. In order to improve the teaching quality effectively, the application of project-based learning (PBL) is carried out by referring to the teaching experience of other universities. The project takes "design of carbide indexable turning tool"as an example, and combines the simulation of turning tool with the teaching content, so that students can master new knowledge in practice. When assigning project tasks, make every student design the indexable turning tool applied in different working conditions, so as to differentiate the design content; After the simulation, the data of each student collected by teacher which analyzed in class, so as to strengthen the students' grasp of the process law. It is a kind of problem-oriented teaching method; thus, it is helpful for students to master basic knowledge and cultivate practical ability.
