Abstract

Optical neural nets in simulating human brain's logic processing exhibit the ability in multi-threshold logic in various optical systems. This paper presents an optoelectronic hybrid threshold logical processor made of light emitting diode and phototriode. This processor may realize programmable real-time control by an optical signal, and obtain two weights and two thresholds, either positive or negative. Characterized by simple construction and high reliability, this processor itself constitutes a complete logic set, and is compatible with VLSI electronics. It can be directly used on GaAs or GaAS/Si substrate to complete hybrid integration of optoelectronics and microelectronics, and is therefore very promising in application in optical computing and digital signal processing.
