Abstract

A metal uniform droplet stream generator was set up with a PZT-transducer as the vibration exciter. The breakup of the metal circular jet was simulated numerically by solving the time-dependent equations of motion and continuity. An experimental investigation was set up to explore the breakup process of metal jet in atmosphere and inert gas. The results proved that the metal jet was broken up to form uniform droplet stream under periodic longitudinal vibration in inert gas, and the sphere uniform tin powders was collected.
