Abstract

The TiAl exhaust valves were manufactured through induction skull melting , permanent mold casting, hot isostatic pressing and machining. It is shown that TiAl valve is 49.3% lighter than that made of the original materials. The result of test run on 483Q engine shows that TiAl alloy is suitable for making exhaust valve.
