Preparing and analyzing of investment cast mould shell for titanium alloys

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The investment cast oxide ceramic mould shell for titanium was studied. The parameters of preparing wax mould including temperature, pressure, time, injecting rate were optimized. The oxide ceramic mould shells were prepared and analyzed by TG-DSC and XRD. The casting samples with two kinds of titanium alloys were cast and the metallographic structures were observed. The results showed the going tendency of DSC curves between powder and mould shell is uniform, and that of TG curves is very different at a low temperature. The main component of the shell is same before and after baking. The microstructures of two kinds of titanium alloys both are widmanstatten pattern.
