Abstract
Ti46AlO. 5W0. 5Si directional solidification rectangular billets was successfully prepared by electromagnetic confining forming in cold crucible, and the surface morphology, macro-and microstructure of the prepared billets were observed by OM (optical microscope), SEM (scanning electron microscope). It is verified that surface morphology of the billets is obviously affected by electromagnetic field. With increasing in drawing velocity, the grain size in the billets is gradually refined and the number of grain is increased. Meanwhile, (3 and a phases can be observed in primary phase in Ti46AlO. 5W0. 5Si directional solidification billets, exhibiting a non-equilibrium process.
