Abstract
Nanosized hydrous-zirconia sol was prepared by heating a zirconyl chloride solution with an alcohol-water mixture as the solvent and hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) as a dispersant in microwave oven. The sol could be transformed into m-ZrO2 and a little of t ZrO2 powders after being dried and calcined. The mean particle sizes of ZrO2·nH2O increase as ZrOCl2 concentration increases. The effects of HPC concentration and heating means on size and size distribution of resulting particles are analyzed.
