Abstract

A new sol-gel technology for preparing nanosized pure barium zirconate titanate powders, with Ba (AC)2-Zr(C6 H4O7)4-Ti (OC4H9)4 - HO(CH2)6OH system as raw materials, was reported. The new technology has the advantages of low cost, no pollution to environment and comportable to industrialization. The sol and gel quality were influenced by the temperature, pH and the sol concentration. Through experiments and XRD, TEM, TG-DTA analyses, the best technological condition was determined to be that the sol temperature was 40°C, the pH was 3.5 and the sol concentration was 0.05-0.10 mol/L. After calcination of the gel at 800°C, the ball-like, pure ABX3-type barium zirconate titanate powders of 40 nm were obtained.
