Abstract
Graphene with amine group was covalently grafted on the polyurethane foam with nitrile group to form superhydrophobic foam. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), atomic force microscopy (AFM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), optical contact angle measuring device and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the foam. The appearance of the characteristic absorptions at 2848 cm-1, 2919 cm-1 and 1581 cm-1 in the FT-IR spectrum of the amidation of graphene oxide (GO-DADD), indicate that the dodecane diamine (DADD) is successfully grafted onto graphene oxide (GO). Meanwhile, the appearance of the characteristic absorptions at 1645 cm-1 and the disappearance of the characteristic absorptions at 2237 cm-1 in the modified foam (PU-DADD-GO), indicate that the GO-DADD is successfully grafted onto polyurethane foam. Moreover, the modified foam (PU-DADD-GO) exhibits a high contact angle (166.2°±2.7°).
