Preparation and characterization of Al 2O 3-POSS hybrid films on quartz fiber

Abstract

Silica fiber-reinforced phosphate has been widely used in the field of space wave-transparent materials. To prevent the strong acid phosphate corrosion of the substrate, we coated the quartz fiber with a layer of protective film. In this paper, we used Al-butanol, and silane coupling agents with different monomers as precursors to synthesize Al 2O 3-POSS hybrid membranes by sol-gel method. The composite sol composition was analyzed by FT-IR. The changes of different quartz fiber surface treatment on fiber surface composition was analyzed by XPS. And the surface morphology of fibers at room temperature was tested by SEM at last. The results showed that: the quartz fiber coated with uniform Al 2O 3-POSS hybrid films has complete structure. And it can be used as the protective coating of the silicon fiber-reinforced phosphate.
