Pre-synchronization of AVS audio-video based on Real-Time Transport Protocol

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

After analyzing the working principle of Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP)/Real-Time Transport Control Protocol(RTCP), the feature of AVS system and the deficiencies of the existing synchronization methods, we propose a new pre-synchronization method for synchronizing audio and video in this paper. Through designing the pre-synchronization module based on the RTP/RTCP timestamp and new working mechanism in the receive buffer, we realize the intra-media rapid synchronization and eliminate the intermedia skew without increasing extra end-to-end delay before unpack RTP packet. It ensures that the AVS system conduct the accurate synchronization playback with audio-video. The simulation results show that the pre-synchronization method can improve the synchronization effect greatly.
