In this paper, a threedimensional finite element model of an elevated bridge is introduced in detail to analyze the impact process with the explicit finite element method by using the ANSYS/LS-DYNA code. The aim of this study is to investigate the mechanism of the pounding problem of elevated bridge during severe earthquake to simulate the impact process of the elevated bridge under earthquake excitation.",
