Abstract

In this paper, ponderomotive force induced nonlinear interaction between terahertz wave and air plasmas is presented. It is found out that the dimension of THz wave can be altered by the ponderomotive force induced nonlinear interaction between terahertz wave and air plasmas. The amount of change also depends on the plasma frequency. The higher the frequency, the bigger the amount of change will be. This unique nonlinear interaction can be very useful for controlling, adjusting, and modulating Terahertz wave.
