Abstract

This paper propose a highly birefringent and circular polarization- maintaining chiral photonic crystal fiber with squeezed air holes and triangular-lattice. By a chiral plane-wave expansion method, the modal birefringence and polarization of the fundamental modes are studied. The calculated results show that the feeble squeezing together with trivial chirality can obtain a highly modal birefringence around 1550 nm wavelength. Furthermore, the corresponding polarizations are computed and discussed in detail.
