Abstract

Developing urban and rural vegetation system intensively is one of the most effective ways to build low-carbon cities and countryside. With the purpose of enhancing the carbon sequestration capacity in cold region and improve quality of urban and rural vegetation system, some problems existing in the construction of vegetation system are analyzed. The importance of functions of urban and rural vegetation system which influences low carbon construction in cold region is studied. Then, some planning strategies for urban and rural vegetation system based on the low-carbon target in cold region are provided including realizing three-dimensional development of urban and rural vegetation, selecting appropriate plant variety, paying attention to construction of protecting vegetation system, and increasing the number of small scaled green spaces etc. Consequently, the target of promoting low carbon construction in cold region will be realized.
