Abstract

A variant of a reversible photoelectrochemical system is proposed. A CdSe photoanode is used, with the electrolyte in the anode compartment based on the K3[Fe(CN)6]/K4[Fe(CN)6] redox system. In the cathode compartment, a redox system based on sulfur polysulfides is used. Open-circuit voltage is up to 0.90 V, and short-circuit current density for the illuminated surface of the photoanode is up to 5 mA/cm2. There is problem of K3[Fe(CN)6] photodegradation.
