Abstract
Cationic photo-polymerization systems of epoxy resin E-51 with photoinitiator CD-1012 and photosensitizer ITX were designed for rigidizable inflatable structures. Photo-differential scanning calorimetry (photo-DSC) was used to investigate the photo-curing kinetics for the epoxy resin systems. The influences of mass ratio of E-51 and CD-1012, light intensity and temperature on photo-curing kinetics of resin systems were discussed. The activation energies of photopolymerization of CD-1012/E-51 system and ITX/CD-1012/E-51 system had been calculated using autocatalytic kinetics model and Arrhenius formulation. The results indicated that ITX could accelerate polymerization of the epoxy resin systems.
