Abstract

A Fractional Fourier Transform domain receiver for Ultra-wideband system was proposed to avoid the restriction of the multi-path separation in the existing receivers. Chirp signals with concentration in Fractional Fourier Transform domain were used as pulse waveforms in the system designed, and the energy aggregation characteristic of Chirp signals was used to obtain the multi-path component by filtering in fractional domain. According to the time-shifting property of Fractional Fourier Transform, the phase correction at the multi-path positions of template signal was made by the phase correction factor in fractional domain, which was got from the estimated delay and the phase of the multi-paths in time domain. At last the demodulation was made, combining the received signal with the phase correction factor. The simulation results indicated that the proposed receiver could get the better BER performance than conventional receivers. Moreover, because the influence of inter-symbol interference was not serious, high data rate transmission could be achieved.
