Abstract

The phase equilibria in the Fe-Al-Sn ternary system at 800°C and 1000°C were determined based on the examination of equilibrated alloys using electron probe microanalysis and x-ray diffraction. The experimental results show the presence of five and three three-phase regions in the isothermal sections at 800°C and 1000°C, respectively. The solubility of each compound phase in the Al-Sn-Fe ternary system was negligible. All the Fe-Al binary compounds are in equilibrium with the liquid phase in these two isothermal sections. Moreover, no ternary compound was found at 800°C and 1000°C.
