T1 - Performance simulation of a conformal equiangular spiral antenna on the circular truncated cone

N2 - This paper discussed a kind of conformal equiangular spiral antenna on the surface of the circular truncated cone and evaluated its radiation performances. Firstly, a planar equiangular spiral antenna is modeled, then it is projected onto a surface of a circular truncated cone and the conformal equiangular spiral antenna is formed. The discussed antenna has less height compared to the corresponding traditional conical spiral antenna. In this paper, the bottom diameter and the height of the circular truncated cone are 60mm and 30mm, respectively. The simulation results indicate that the discussed antenna has still ultra wide band (UWB) performance and wide beam. For the cubic structure antenna, the antenna pattern changes with the frequency, and at most of frequency within the working frequency range, the antenna has approximately circular polarization characteristics. As a conformal UWB antenna, the discussed antenna has simple structure and can save the installation space. The discussed antenna can be selected to work in a UWB electronic system in some special cases.
