N2 - Sulfate aluminium cement is usually used as the binder of high early strength mortars due to its fast hydration speed and high early strength. In this study, an ordinary Portland cement was used to replace 20%, 40% and 60% of the sulfate aluminium cement to lower the cost, and the properties of mortars were investigated. Then concrete was cast with the mortars and crushed stone, and the properties of the concrete were tested. The results showed the fluidity of the fresh mortars decreased slightly with the increase of the percentage of ordinary Portland cement. However, the strength of mortars and concrete dropped obviously when the ordinary Portland cement was used, especially at early age. The shrinkage of all mortars was very low. Meanwhile, the impermeability of concrete and the bond strength of concrete and steel were good. The application of a mortar to repair concrete slabs at an airport is also described.
