Abstract
Dynamics of charged particles in a field of an electromagnetic wave with varying amplitude is explored. It is shown, that the law of change of amplitude can qualitatively change dynamics of particles. If the wave amplitude exponentially increase with coordinate, there is an effect similar to effect of Veksler-McMillan autophasing. In this case occur bunching of particles. If the amplitude of a field periodically varies with coordinate than the dynamic of particles can become as chaotic. Such dependences of wave amplitude on coordinate are characteristic for beam amplifiers and generators.
