Abstract
By using the resolvent operator, the interaction of a nonresonant cavity with a single two-level atom is investigated in the cases of strong, intermediate, and weak coupling between the atom and the cavity mode at zero temperature. The influence of detuning on the inhibited spontaneous emission of a two-level atom is discussed. For any coupling, the spontaneous emission of a two-level atom is partially inhibited in a nonresonant cavity.
