Abstract

A micro direct methanol fuel cell (μDMFC) of an active area 2 cm×2 cm was presented in this paper. Stainless steel mesh which is evaporated 1 μm gold was adopted to replace the traditional diffusion layers, for the sake of current collecting. We studied the anode flow field of a μDMFC and brought forward four serpentine flow fields of different open ratios, the results indicated that a μDMFC of an open ratio 36.3% has the best performance; meanwhile the depth of the anode flow field was also investigated. In the end, we got a conclusion that the optimal parameter: channel width:rib width:channel depth=1:2:1.
