Abstract
Ceramic honeycomb catalytic ozonation of nitrobenzene (NB) in aqueous solution was investigated. It was found that the presence of ceramic honeycomb (CH) significantly increased the ozonation rate of NB as compared to the case of non-catalytic ozonation. The adsorption of NB on the CH does not significantly affect the degradation efficiency of NB. The experimental results also indicated that NB degradation increased with the increase of pH. But when we raised the pH value of the solution to 10.2, the advantage of O3/CH lost. The experimental result also suggests that CH can remain its stability as a kind of high active catalyst. The modified CH could improve greatly the degradation rate of NB. With the addition of tert-butanol, the degradation rate of NB decreased sharply, which appeared to support that the degradation of NB by ozone in the presence of CH followed a radical mechanism.
