Abstract

Chapter 7 explores strategic approaches to optimising the spatial layout of China’s semiconductor industry. It emphasises the importance of aligning with global industrial trends and strengthening regional coordination to foster technological self-reliance and harness regional comparative advantages. The chapter articulates two core strategic objectives: enhancing global competitiveness and safeguarding industrial security, both underpinned by forward-looking planning and policy support. It further outlines several strategic pathways, including enhanced domestic regional coordination, integration of international resources, and the internationalisation of industrial parks and production bases. Through a combination of policy incentives and market-driven technological upgrading, the chapter presents a roadmap for transitioning China’s semiconductor sector towards a high-end, resilient, and globally integrated configuration.
