Abstract

The design of wavelet packet tree (WPT) is a crucial part of optimal wavelet packet modulation (WPM) system. This paper presents a new method for optimizing the WPT based on the adaptive least mean square (LMS) algorithm for WPM. The proposed algorithm decreases the effect of inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-carrier interference (ICI), tracks the channel variation by changing the trees structures. Theoretical analyses and simulation results show that the proposed method has a good performance in reducing the multiplicative noise and it is suitable for tracking the channel variation accurately in real-time.
