Abstract
Generally, at low speed, there exists a voltage distortion in the input voltages for a surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) driven by a pulse-width modulation (PWM) voltage source inverter (VSI). Nonlinearity varies with the operating conditions such as the temperature, device nonlinear character and the phase current level. Also, the nonlinearity affects the machine current distortions, and degrades the control performance. In this paper, the nonlinearity in a PWM VSI is analyzed and a new online voltage method is proposed to compensate the time varying voltage distortion based on the adaptive parameter estimation, considering the uncertain parameters such as resistance and inductance for SPMSM. Experimental results show that the proposed method can improve the output performance of the PWM VSI, and furthermore make motor current waveform sinusoidal.
