Abstract
An approach of on-line prediction and management of tool life with relative consumption index (RCI) is introduced. The RCI of tool life is obtained by the power signal, the Taylor's equation, the database of cutting parameters and cutting time on-line. The experimental results show that the approach is valid and feasible.
