Abstract
In this paper, we study the distribution of the roots of a kind of exponential polynomial equation which is the characteristic equation of second order neutral differential equations. The results can be regarding as a complementary of the works of Freedman and Kuang Funkcial. Ekvac. 34 (1991) 187. Meanwhile, the stability and existence of Hopf bifurcation of a Liénard neutral delay equation are obtained.
