First, two adaptive observer-based fault estimation methods are given for continuous-time LTI systems with actuator faults. Second, the fault estimation methods based on augmented state observer is studied for both continuous-time systems and discrete-time systems. To improve the fault estimation performance, robust design of the augmented observer-based fault estimator is also studied in this chapter.",
